おみやげ（Souvenir)

こんにちは皆様。

システム技術部第1課のD.Bです。今回は 、日本の習慣である 「おみやげ」 を紹介したいと思います。

おみやげの文化や習慣は慣れるまで少し時間がかかります。おみやげとは、旅行から帰宅した友人や同僚、家族に食べ物や記念品のことです。

日本の駅では、色とりどりの包み紙に包まれた箱が目につくことが多い。日本人はお土産として売られているこれらの箱を準備するのに大変な労力を費やしています。日本人にとっては、尊敬と寛大さ、そして関係者間の友好の印である。贈与は、政治的なものから個人的なものまで、生活のあらゆる面で顕著です。

私たちのオフィスでは、出張から人が帰ってくるたびに、必ず和菓子やコーヒー、抹茶などをお土産として買ってきてくれる人もいます。特に出張に行った人にとっては、会社にいないあいだに仕事を支障がないようにしてくれてありがとうという思いのようです。

This is D. B from System Engineering Department SE１. I would like to introduce the Japanese custom ‘Souvenir‘.

The culture or custom of souvenir takes a little bit of getting used to. Souvenirs are food and gifts for friends, colleagues, and family after returning home from a trip.

In Japanese train stations, you will see lots of boxes wrapped in colorful wrappers that will surely catch mine attention. Japanese put a lot of effort into preparing these boxes sold as Omiyage.For the Japanese, it is a sign of respect, generosity, and amicability between parties.  Gift-giving is prominent in all aspects of life, from the political to the personal.

In our office whenever someone comes home from a business trip, some people always buy Japanese sweets, coffee, or green tea as souvenirs. Especially for those who went on business trips, it’s like a thank you for making sure their work wasn’t disrupted while they were away from the office.
